Description
Up for bids is a vintage Muriel Coronas cigar tin with itsoriginal
red plastic top. While the suggested retain price on the tin is 10 cents each, it appears that they could be sold individually for not less than 8 cents and not more than 15 cents (per the fine print on the back of the can). These were sold as "The Light Cigar," as printed on the four sides of the tin, as well as embossed in the red plastic top. There are four round holes in the bottom of the can, presumably to allow the cigars to breathe.
The cigar tin
measures 4.5" high by 4.5" wide by 4.5" deep. The red plastic lid measures 4.5" wide by 4.5" deep by 2.75" high. When put together, they measure 6.75" high by 4.5" wide by 4.5"deep.
As to condition, the metal portion of the tin is almost perfect, with great paint all around, with only the slightest bit of wear at the corners where the lid went on. The red plastic top is present and in fair condition; it has a tiny piece missing from one corner (see photo), and it had some cracking at two other corners which was shored up with some red tape sometime in the past (see other photo). It belonged to my father, but a
fter all these years, it seems time to allow it to move along to a new home of some collector where it can be more fully appreciated. It would make a nice addition to any collection of tobacciana.
