Vintage Hand Engraved Brazilian Silver Portuguese-Style Footed Gallery Tray
Presented is a fine Brazilian silver gallery tray dating to the mid-1900's. This elegant and high quality tray is made from 835 purity silver. The tray is an ornate rectangular basket with lovely pierced sides, heart-shaped handles and four outward-reaching, claw feet. The surface of the tray is beautifully hand engraved with a continuous floral and foliate design. The tray's rim, handles and feet are all adorned with detailed, highly textured grape clusters. The center of the tray has never been monogrammed.
The tray is in great overall condition. Aside from minor surface wear, a pin-prick indentation on the top surface,  and a very small indent near the hallmarks on the downturned edge, there are no major issues, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece bears a maker's mark of a "G" with a staff through its center and the fineness designation "835" as well as "Industria Brasileira". We have not been able to track down the maker for you but we have tested the silver and guarantee that this is 835 purity silver.
The tray measures 20 1/2 inches long, handle to handle and is 12 1/2 inches wide and stands about 2 1/4 inches high.  The flat interior, usable surface area is 15 3/8 inches long by 11 1/4 inches wide.
