Description
Presented is a superb quality 3 piece Dutch silver tea set. This set was made by J.M. Van Kempen & Sons, and the specific pieces are dated 1949, 1950, and 1953. The set is done in a lovely classical form, with a tapered, paneled design to the bodies. The creamer and the teapot have beautifully carved wooden scroll handles, with a florette design where the handles meet the bodies. The pieces are all spotlessly clean, inside and out.The set consists of: The set consists of:

Each piece is stamped with the maker's mark for J.M. van Kempen & Sons, the Dutch lion passant for a minimum silver purity of 833, the duty mark of Minerva's head with the letter C for the city of Hague, and a date letter. The teapot is stamped with the date letter S for 1953, while the creamer has the date letter O for 1949 and the sugar has the date letter P for 1950. The teapot and the sugar bowl have all four of these stamps on the underside, while the lion, Minerva, and date stamps appear on the side under the rim on the exterior of the creamer, with the maker's mark on the underside of the creamer itself. The lid of the teapot and of the sugar are also hallmarked with the Dutch lion mark for min. 833 silver purity. The silver portion of the handle of the teapot and the creamer are also hallmarked with the Dutch lion mark for min. 833 silver purity.
The total weight for the set is 1029 grams or 36.3 regular ounces.
