Unexamined outside of frame it is likely the back is titled Air View #2. Oil and concrete like material on Canvas on Board 11 3/4 x 35 3/4 inches 13 5/8 x 38 inches framed Signed Sanford 2/63 upper and lower right Missing canvas and tears intentional by artist Displayed Vertically and Horizontally Figural Quality 2 of 2 Parts Walter Sanford (1909 - 1987), a former Chicago native and resident, is remembered as one of the country`s greatest African American artists who created works in the abstract expressionist, cubist and impressionistic styles. Coined as the "Black Picasso" Sanford's works hang in hundreds of private collections and galleries in Europe and the United States.
