Ornate Antique 1863 ANDREAS SCHUTZ Prague Austrian Empire Sterling Silver BoxThis stunning
Silver snuff or vanity box was hand made around the year 1863 in Prague, which was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire at the time, and features masterfully crafted floral and pattern engravings all over the piece. The inside is gilt. Engraved name on lid. Unmonogrammed cartouche on the bottom.
Measures 3 5/8" long x 1 5/8" wide x 1 1/8" high and weighs approx. 99 grams.
Very good antique condition with some patina according to age. The hinges are all intact and the piece opens and closes nicely.
The piece is fully hallmarked with an Austro-Hungarian hallmark indicating the city of Prague (letter "B"), the year (1863), and the purity of 13 loth (812 silver = 81.2% silver). It also carries the makers mark "AS" for master silversmith Andreas Schutz.
A very ornate antique piece from one of Europe's most intriguing times!
