Description
Fine Antique Portugese or Italian Hand Engraved Silver Salver Footed TrayPresented is a fine Portuguese silver salver or tray. This piece dates to 1760-1860. This tray is made in 800 to 850 purity silver. The tray is done in a round form, standing on three feet, with a beaded and floral rim. The surface of the tray is beautifully hand engraved with a continuous floral and foliate design, which is quite detailed
and eye-catching. The center of the tray has never been monogrammed.
The tray is in great overall condition. Aside from minor surface wear, a pin-prick indentation on the top surface, and a very small indent near the hallmarks on the downturned edge, there are no major issues, no splits, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
This piece is stamped on the outer rim with an indistinguishable city mark. There is also a stamp of "MG" and a zigzag assay test mark. We believe the hallmarks and the silver work indicate Portugal or Italy and an age of about 200 years old. We have tested the silver and guarantee that this is solid silver with a purity between 800 and 850.
The tray measures about 12 7/8 inches in diameter and stands about 1 3/4 inches high.
This piece weighs 958 grams.
