    Description

    This is a very unusual mid-century modern set of fish knives and forks. Made in Italy, the design is absolutely elegant, with beautiful lines and interesting details, such as the cut of the fork tines. Unlike many fish sets, it is not silver plate but pure 800/1000 silver. Both the knives and forks are marked “AP” for Ascoli Piceno—the area in Italy where they were made—and “800”—the purity of the silver.
    This set would be right at home with mid-century modern décor, however, I believe they were made slightly earlier, in the 1940s or 50s. The knives and forks are in excellent condition with no dents, dings or monograms. The only sign of age is a bit of tarnish. The box (probably original) is in fair condition—consistent with age and wear. The forks measure approximately 7.5 inches, and the knives 8.25 inches. The box measures approximately 13.25 x 9.75 x 1.5 inches
