    Description

Up for bid is a large antique Austrian 800 silver cup top tea strainer.
The strainer is 8 1/4 inches long and the bowl is 3 ¼ inches wide.
    It weighs 56 grams.
The pierced bowl is quite deep and has a wide edge with engraved decoration and an engraved pierced lug end.
It has a rectangular brown horn handle, riveted into a socket.
The piece has not been monogrammed.
The piece is marked with an Austro-Hungarian 800 standard mark and an “HS” maker’s mark.
It is also stamped with two small “A”’s on the back of the lug and the socket.

Condition on the piece is fairly good. There are several small dents, some stubborn tarnish and some chips to the handle edges.
There is a split in the side of the handle socket, and the handle seems a bit small; it may be replacement.
Regardless, a nice old tea strainer!
