Antique 18th or 19th Century European Silver Ornate Pierced Serving Spoon 9 1/2"
Presented is an antique, European silver serving spoon. This piece is most likely from Italy and is at least from the 19th century, possibly the late 18th century. The bowl and handle are done in an ornate, openwork form. The pierced bowl has a latticework pattern and band of floral design surrounding a bird. The top of the handle also features a bird decoration. The back of the bowl has an old, original monogram of the initials EPB.
The bowl is stamped with a hallmark of a face, a mark that looks very similar to one from the 18th century for the town of Ferrare, Italy. The mark could also be a pseudo hallmark. This piece is guaranteed to be at least 800 purity silver.
This piece is in excellent condition for its age and the designs are crisp.
