Description
The chacana is a stepped cross with four equal arms. It is square and stepped, with twelve points and a small circle in the middle.It represents the southern cross in May and is a reference to the Sun and the Southern Cross.
Its stepped shape could signify the union between the low and the high, the earth and the sun, the human being and the higher.
Its shape is the product of astronomical observation.
The chakana also indicates the four seasons of the year and the times of sowing and harvesting. This necklace is handmade by an artisan from Chiclayo
