Description
Presented is a fantastic set of 8 Danish silver spoons. These spoons date to 1845 and were made by Jacob Prahl. The spoons are done in a classic Fiddle pattern. These are large, heavy spoons, great for use as large soup spoons, serving spoons, or whatever else you like. These spoons are in great condition. There is some minor surface wear, but nothing excessive. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each spoon is stamped with the Danish hallmark for the city of Copenhagen, with 45 underneath for the year 1845. This mark guarantees at least 826 purity silver. Beneath that are the conjoined initials RH for R. Hinnerup, assayer between 1840-1863. The 'Prahl' stamp is the maker's mark for Jacob S. Prahl. We don't recognize the stamp beneath the maker's mark.
Each spoon is about 8 5/8 inches long.
The total weight for the set is 613 grams or 21.6 regular ounces.
