    Description

    Here we have a very ornate 80% silver spoon.  I have researched the hallmark.  The hallmark is exactly like the last picture (unable to get a good photo of the hallmark).  The hallmark indicates that this piece was crafted in the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1872 and is 80% silver.  The spoon measures 5.84" in length and weighs in at 31.3 grams.  The hallmark is stamped on the left hand side of the heel of the spoon.  On the right is another mark "LJ".  I am uncertain if the is a city mark (Possible Ljubljana - present day capital of Slovenia) or possibly a maker's mark.
    The back is also marked "Palais Royal" in the back of the handle which indicates that the spoon was sold at the Palais Royal" market in Paris.
    The spoon is in great shape, especially considering its age.  a few very light surface scratches.  I have not cleaned or polished this spoon.
